I sold something on eBay and the buyer is having buyers remorse and saying it was not as described. Now I am certain it was and he got what he won but he never asked a question.

Now my question is to anyone out there, have you have had a paypal dispute and how did it turn out? I am a bit worried about this. :(

I've had multiple disputes filed against me by people who have no idea what they're doing and what they just bought (hard to explain). I've only ever lost one dispute where I couldn't prove delivery. As long as your description was honest, it's hard for a buyer to prove not as described.

Just sit back, try to relax, let it play its course. And whatever information PayPal asks for (if any), wait until a day before the deadline and then provide it. Just don't MISS the deadline or you automatically lose. But hmm-hawing around with your info lets the buyer sit and sweat a little too. ;)

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Well my auction was for over 1000 world paper money that the buyer is claiming were washed or fire soaked (whatever that means?) I simply responded to PayPal and the buyer that the auction was for over 1000 notes in all sorts of conditions.

My wonder though since PayPal loves to leach into my bank account where the "Refund" will come from should I lose. Or if they are in the process of taking money out of my bank account that is not there. I could not find a single answer on this. But this is a first time out of more then 250 paypal payments and over 3000 auctions on eBay.

I really wish people would just ask a simple question befor using buy it now like "What is the condition" and this entire thing would be avoided.

But I wont refund because I can not on that many items sold in a lot. I can only remember what I sold, not even single thing I sold.

There should be plenty of advice available on the discussion boards in the Ebay community section - here is a link to the UK site - i am sure the info there is just as applicable, and like on POTN there are people falling over themselves to give good advice.

Thanks Steve but I dont go to the eBay boards. Because there are some on those boards that like to contact the buyer, etc to get a good fight for their entertainment. I've seen it before years ago when I used to stop by there now and then. Thanks anyways.

If you post on the boards, you need a second ID for posting - to avoid those situations - it's perfectly OK with ebay to have separate IDs so long as you don't shill.

You can always ask general questions as you did here, and no one can follow to get exact details if you use a posting ID. Almost everyone who hangs out on those boards does that now.

paypal WILL NOT take funds from your personal bank account. if you have money in your paypal account, they will take it from there. but if you withdrew the funds that you received from the auction and already have $0 balance, your new balance, should you lose the dispute, will be -$1000. a negative balance will just limit your accessibility with paypal.. i dont know what the exact details are, but you wont be able to do specific things. i know for a fact that any future funds you receive via paypal will be put towards what you owe them. but i just want to repeat again that they will not deduct the funds from the bank account you have on file.

you will not lose the dispute as long as you have confirmation that you shipped the item to the buyer; and just reaffirm the paypal dispute center that what you described in the auction was exactly what the buyer received. trust me, it's happened to me as well

CJM -

I used to make frame sliders for sportbikes on my lather from delrin. Sold many set son eBay. No problems. Then I sold to a guy from the military. Young guy. I sent them to him the day he clicked buy it now. They took more than a week to get there since I was in Canada, he was in the USA (customs). He took off for home for Thanksgiving and filed a non-delivery with me. He was on leave for a while and I eventually tracked him down and he had the product, told PayPal he wanted to reverse the claim even.

6 months later, after having my PayPal account locked I finally got it cleared. I got %50 of my money and lost a lot of revenue from not being able use PayPal. At the time no one else offered a solution like Google Chekout etc as others had gone bankrupt or would only cover their own auctions, not external auctions.

A total nightmare. You have to phone them, fax them and downright complain your butt off and they might, MIGHT get someone on it.

Phone them. Never email - phone, phone and phone and PHONE them until resolved.

I am glad it is a buyer with in Canada and that I spent the money on Tracking and Signature Required.

Honestly though, I hate eBay when these kinds of buyers coming up. Basically I think this buyer was expecting he was getting brand new and mint paper money all choice ones etc. I sold my auction in a bulk lot to try to avoid these kinds of buyers for less then I could have got if I sold in smaller lots. I even pointed out to this buyer that he got a good deal and to do some shopping around. Anyways, I am pretty ticked off and I can understand why people stop using PayPal.

I think from now on, even selling on POTN or FM that the buyer will have to pay for Registered mail in Canada and UPS or FEDEX to the US with serious tracking and will have to be a confirmed and verified buyer. But then again, I did all that and now I have the problem yet have sold to others, where I didn't even get very good tracking and they were not PayPal anything and not a peep from them except THANK YOU.

I wonder if I should close the dispute since obviously this buyer is not going to accept he got what he got and I am not going to refund.

Why the hell would you do that??

If you close that dispute, you HAVE to refund. There is no box to tick off labeled "F you."

i would keep fighting the dispute, since they did not deduct the money from your account yet. as soon as you give in and take fault for the transaction, they will deduct the funds as soon as they can. like i said, keep responding to the disputes and you'll come out the winner inevitably.

like i said earlier, the same thing happened to me, which is why i will never send to unconfirmed addresses ever again.

thats weird.. that means they deducted the funds already. they usually dont deduct it until you lost the dispute. but honestly, keep fighting it so you can get your money back if thats the case

Nope. As soon as there is a decision made to go ahead with a dispute they lock you down. You need to get on this ASAP sonce it's going to take some time. Either by supplying proff of return or proof or delivery. You need to have Paypal calling the buyer.

They simply cannot accept a product and not expect to pay. PayPal will drag their heels on this glaringly simple logic.

Call now to avoid months of displeasure. And resolve the issue with the buyer AND get him to call PayPal. Immeditately.

And just hope he isn't 19, employed by the military and be nearly impossible to track town.
