Well this is what PayPal says.

What happens to my money during the dispute?

Until the dispute is closed, the funds associated with this transaction may not be available for withdrawal. The funds will be released when the buyer closes the dispute and indicates that they are satisfied or if the dispute is automatically closed. If the dispute is escalated to a claim, the funds will only be released if the PayPal agent decides the claim in your favor; otherwise, they will be refunded to the buyer.

Nope. As soon as there is a decision made to go ahead with a dispute they lock you down. You need to get on this ASAP sonce it's going to take some time. Either by supplying proff of return or proof or delivery. You need to have Paypal calling the buyer.

They simply cannot accept a product and not expect to pay. PayPal will drag their heels on this glaringly simple logic.

Call now to avoid months of displeasure. And resolve the issue with the buyer AND get him to call PayPal. Immeditately.

And just hope he isn't 19, employed by the military and be nearly impossible to track town.

Think I will wait awhile before giving into this buyer.

really? when the dispute was filed with mine, they didn't lock my account down until the dispute was resolved. albeit, it was only $150, but still...

Can't you just set up another pay-pal account (wifes name maybe?) to use in the meantime ?

Nope can't do it. :( I will make him an offer for a full refund minus about $25 US used for Shipping and eBay listing fees. Then I will get it back, check it out, issue a refund and relist my auction that night.

It is sad, it is 223 feedback, been on eBay for 3 years and he has 1 neg. What is sad is he has not learned how to ask the seller a question. Guess he has now.

I sent payment for a tripod a few years aback and never got the tripod.

Entered a paypal dispute, the seller had disappeared. In the end (it took about a month) I got about 80% of the money back.

I was pretty happy with that. a lot better than none.

I hate to give in but I am going to be selling some gear and other things and I dont have time to waste on this when if I get back I can easily sell it with the GIANT wording "NO REFUNDS! ASK TONS OF QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!"
Or is that to blunt? I dont think the buyer will leave me a negative feedback because he doesn't want one back. Hate the fact there is such a thing but not leaving feedback right away makes sure the buyer (who values is record) does not jump the gun and leave a negative feedback before communicating to the seller.

Man I hate ePay.......ne-in-the-....butt.

My bank allows me to require verification from me for all electronic transfers. When a paypal transfer comes in I must verify it prior to any funds transferring. Seems to solve a lot of problems.

I'm not sure how this is relevant here. But your idea is sound for an online buyer.

As seller on eBay you have to put up with the boneheads, sadly it's part of business.

Considering eBay owns Paypal, and eBay/PayPal fees being as high as they are - you'd think that EB/PP would be a seller oriented marketplace since, well, with no seller there would be no buyers. Not so unfortunately.

Once when PayPal decided to change the way things were funded to pay for an auction and did not tell ANYONE they changed it from Credit Card being the default to Bank account being the default. I paid for 1 auction thinking I used a Credit Card when in fact I used my Bank Account that at the time had no money in it. I got charged 3 NSF charges of $35 from my bank. Because PayPal like a idiot tried once, thought hmm no money, lets try again, hmm no money, lets try again, hmm no money again, I'll wait 24 hours.

I had 4 NSG charges from PayPal by the time it was done with, 3 of which I got PayPal to actually refund me through a good contact I made in that company but the most shocking part of it was my bank could not stop PayPal from entering my bank account. My bank (PC Financial care of CIBC) told me they could not stop Paypal from entering my bank account.

And 2 days after that PayPal attempted again finally getting their money after I used my credit card to get some instant cash and deposited into my bank account. Not even sure what I bought but sometimes usuing you credit card to buy something before payday costs you.

It gives me total control over whether money goes into or out of my account.

Ever hear of VOICES? That is a eBay user group that wanted me to join. I turned them down because I was a strong voice against eBay calling my buyers "Their customers" they are my Customers and their Patrons. But eBay did not understand the difference. Hence every Christmas they have a "Its not too late to buy gifts on eBay" which they can do since they get the fees while the sellers customers get pissed at the seller when it arrives after Christmas. But I have had contact with people even at the top of eBay years ago and the only idea they took from me was to have the ability to leave feedback removed from a non paying buyer.
