I thought I'd post some shots of some of the promo work I did for the band. I made a couple small edits to the collage and we printed it 20x30 and it is hanging at the venue.

Looking at these reduced they may be a touched over sharpened, they did print very nice.

Here is one of the band promo shots.

Nice work... well done. What I appreciate the most is you managed to get it so only one guy is flat shouldered toward you in shot number 2. Not if you planned it that way, or just dumb lucky, but that pose there works very well. Even in shot 1, you got them 90% there. It's one of those little things I am learning doing work with a really good wedding photographer that he is teaching me... no I don't want to do weddings, but the good ones know how to pose groups really fast, and really well. That's why I am working with him, and these poses jumped out really fast. Lucky or good, either way, it's working for ya. BTW, I did a shoot in Gilley's some 15 years ago, but for what ever reason I thought it was over in the stock yard area.... it was for a business guy by the name Paul Grayson who owned a software company and was doing a project for the Center for missing and exploited children. Anyway, way off subject.... nice stuff... and congrats on a nice piece of work.

Thanks Croasdail,

Yes the square to the camera look is something I try to avoid. Most of what I do for posing is instict, I've had no formal training. I'd love to sit in on a two day seminar that works on posing singles, couples, groups and more.

The only exception was in this shot it was done on purpose so the middle guy would stand out, since he is "Chris Rivers".

The inside media kit was laid out by the publisher of the magazine I work for, he is fantastic artist as well as publisher.

First promo shot is *very* nice.
On the second I'd have the (small) sign a bit less distracting; either a different height or a bit darker. Might be impractical however.
Media kit looks good as well. I like the shot where the one guy is looking through the other guys guitar :D

You're right, regarding the sharpness prominence... I bet the pics look great in their original size...

The Media Kit is very nice... Reminds me of brochure making in Page Maker...

Looks like a lot of time went into this project... Very well done, Chris...

I don't care for the processing of #1 and #2 but I really like the "the look". Everything else, from the Media Kit and extra images are super. Say, do I recognize the guitarist in #6 from Cadillac Pizza?

Yes it is Bryan,

That is the great thing about art and working for a client, the absolutely loved the processing. In fact they had seen it on my other work and is the look they were going for.

The web version does not do justice to the 50 prints we did on a metallic paper. The metallic paper along with this PP made them really jump.

Thanks..

Nicely done, Chris.

Damn, now along with getting out to shoot with Dwight, it would appear as though I need to get you to take me to Gilley's...

Absolutely!

Well, Nashville to You has run out of steam somewhat permanently I found out yesterday. We'll have to find something else. Any interest in shooting a bicycle race this summer?

These are great...I immediately noticed the positioning of all the band members in the group photos, really turned out excellent. This is something I've had a bit of a struggle with, my attempts at band group photos usually end up looking pretty dull. Thanks for sharing, great job!

Thank you guys, I've got a CD project I'm working on right now for another artist. I'm pleased with the way it is coming along. We are hoping to do the final shoots tomorrow and have the rest of the CD graphics designed.

I'll post those later this week.
