I think you may well still wonder what all the fuss over Canon is. Not only are you going to a smaller body size but a smaller and dimmer viewfinder. The D80, like the 30D, uses a pentaprism while the Rebel series uses a penta-mirror. I would suggest you reconsider and get the 30D instead if cost is not a problem.

and 4GB is a lot of memory

no it's not, that equates to about 225 photos if you shoot raw plus jpeg. However, i love the size of my xti, i don't want a bigger camera or a grip, too heavy.

Who shoots both? It's roughly over 400 unless you go high ISO on RAW alone.

You made the right choice. I purchased the XTi because I prefered the way it felt compared to the D80, 30D and the D200. The quality of the pictures will be just as good as any of the other cameras as long as you have a good lens (which you do).

I'll admit, my hands are small and I like the fact that it is light. If they had a 30D made out of titanium and that was about the same size as the XTi I probably would have gone for that. Sure the 30D, D80 and D200 are "more solid", but it feels like your carrying around a lead brick.

Once you fall in love with the 24-70L and it's on your camera 85% of the time the difference in camera weight seems to get lost anyway.

too bad, I actually like the size/weight a lot. goes to show you that handling perspective cameras in the store means a LOT as far as which one to choose.

The 50 1.4 is really nice, as i just recieved it! A friend of mine has the d200 and nikkor 50 1.4 and the canon is made much better.

is the AF faster on the Canon (than the Nikon prime) since the motor is in the lens and not the body?
