Rock Parrot

Another one of the locals from my lunch break strolls. Difficult to get these little fellas as they hang out under the shade of the boulders and large rocks along the beach. Best time to get them is when they just come out, as they appear to be startled by the bright sunlight for a second or two and adjust their eyes before nicking off again.

That is a beautiful bird and a nice shot. The beauty of the birds that are native to Australia and New Zeland amazes me!

I've never heard of a Rock Parrot before. The only birds I've seen along the shore have been the usual commoners, maybe the southern beaches are less appealing to parrots. You obviously have a great place to stroll at lunch time. Good capture.

Thanks Debbie and Sue. Yes there is a few where I work. Surrounded by scrub fortunately. My photographed bird count is now thirty, and rising. It would be thirty one if I could get that White Bellied Sea-eagle to get a bit closer!

Thanks Karen. This is probably one of the more bland variety of parrots in Oz.
