Wonderful captures. #1 is a beauty and I like the bee on the other side of the feeder.

Great shots. My nectar is red colored and I was wondering what you had in your feeder since it was a different color.

Very nice shots!! I like the last one for some reason...I guess it's because we usually don't see hummingbirds in that angle and "wide open" like that! :)

Thanks guys!

Joe - I added the exif data for you.

SC - I have no idea what they had in the feeders - I shot these in Costa Rica and they weren't my feeders. :)

Amazing shots. The last one is something you don't see very often. Nice.

those are absolutely breathtaking. my favorite bird and varieties i have never seen in person. can you post up some more ?

i was wondering what part of s. cal you were living in cause i was already loading up the car for a weekend in your area:D :D :D

sc , it appears that is the color of the bottle that was used. i work with hummers extensively and the commercial "red liquid" is not necessary and can be expensive. especially when you go through 3-7 gallons a week;) ;)

a simple mixture of 4 cups water to 1 cup white sugar is ideal. the little bit of red color on the feeder will draw the hummers. once they know it is there they will come back repeatedly , year after year.

Started with nothing and still have most of it!;)

I'll post some more tonight - have to leave for work now.

Thanks for the kind words guys - much appreciated.

Terry - I'm in southern Orange County - the Mission Viejo area to be exact. What are you planning to do while you're down here? There's lots to see and the weather is perfect right now!

Beautiful shots here Debbie. We only get the Ruby-throated hummer here. Could you perhaps identify these species sometime please?

I have no idea what types of hummingbirds these are. The photos were all taken in Costa Rica.
