debbie, i won't be down till next winter. that's when your area is the best for hummers and the weather. :D :D

i'll be sure to let you know and we'll shoot some hummers together.if you do it right it can be in your back yard! your area is a prime wintering spot for about 13 or more breeds.;)

keep those shots you got in CR for a future reference. with those and the ones that live around you it could be a new pastime.

collecting hummer shots!

I'll post some more tonight - have to leave for work now.

Thanks for the kind words guys - much appreciated.

Terry - I'm in southern Orange County - the Mission Viejo area to be exact. What are you planning to do while you're down here? There's lots to see and the weather is perfect right now!

Started with nothing and still have most of it!;)

Beautiful shots here Debbie. We only get the Ruby-throated hummer here. Could you perhaps identify these species sometime please?

stephen. this may be of some help

truthfully there is not a lot of correct inof as it takes a lot of study to capture these flying jewels and make a proper identification.

mature males are easy. young males and females are not. ;)

I think that the last one is my favourite...though they are all great........I wish that we had humming birds in the UK.

By request, more Costa Rican hummers (the EXIF is similar to the first set as they were shot at the same times):
