Products Similar to the Lumiquest 80-20 Promax System?

Are there any products out there that are similar to the Lumiquest 80-20 Promax system that work well in portrait (vertical) orientation without the need of a flash bracket?

It seems like the Lumiquest 80-20 Promax system is the most versatile flash accessory on the market with all of the different options it offers but its physical design really hinders it's effectiveness when shooting in portrait (vertical) orientation. If only it attached to the flash body sideways (kind of like the WhaleTail) it would be perfect and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. :(

A not-too-bad option is the Joe Demb Flipit (external link).

A better option is a flash bracket & sync cord.

I have to agree with the versatility of the Lumiquest system - with a flash bracket. You've hit on the one problem with most on-camera systems, keeping the flash in the proper position in portrait orientation.

When I get lazy around the house I still use my LSII. Curtis has the other, more versatile answer in the Flipit.

Question about the Flip-it!: Is the velcro used to attach it to the flash a cinch strap like the Lumiquest system or does it require velcro straps glued (or what have you) onto the flash body?

Instructions on the web site seem to indicate it's more like the cinch strap. I don't have one so hopefully someone who does will confirm.

After some research it does seem to be held onto the flash via a cinch strap. Just ordered the largest model with front diffusers. I can't wait to try it out!

Thanks for the recommendation, Curtis and Titus.

I was shooting a wedding in march and after many hours of use, the screws (allen key) started to loosen on my bracket so I ditched the bracket and went to shoe mounted flash. (couldn't find anything to tighten it, that won't happen again)

I had an 80-20 but of course ran into the problem at hand...what to do when rotating the camera?

I rotated the flash head and pointed it up...then mounted the 80-20, just like you normally would...but it was along the short side of the flash rather than the long side. It wasn't ideal but it worked in a pinch.
