My first post in this section. Maybe this fellow belongs in people but I thought I'd share.

Interesting looking fellow with his bird. Also shot of falcon being reconditioned to return to the wild. I left my 100-400 home that day. That won't ever happen again. I didn't know this event was taking place. Had to make do with my 70-200 and the flying bird was a real hard crop so it lost a little sharpness.

Excellent shots, especially the first one, which is a red tailed hawk. Nice picture.

Thanks, Here's a couple more. Wish I'd shot these in raw instead of JPG. Lost a lot in the first one from overexposure and a fairly healthy crop. She caught the little "training bird" he threw up to her. Anybody know what type of bird this is?

What part of the world was this in? I don't think that is an american bird. The first one still looks like a red tail to me though.

Actually it was in Muskogee Oklahoma. There was a Medevial Fair type thing at a "castle" there every weekend in May. There was a show involving this falcon and according to the MC it was being rehabilitated to be released but never really left. Everyone dresses up in old costumes and speaks "funny" english. It's a fun place for taking photos. Some of the costumes are shall we say "interesting" and most of them are very colorful.

We have the local Renaissance Fair here in May also, live jousting on horseback, a living chess board, beggars, sword fights, etc. It's quite entertaining. Held near a real castle that a man built for himself. Has round turrets, battlements, and is really cool. Modern kitchen though, built in the round. Just a sidenote to your pictures. Nice shots, by the way.

This one had all the events too.I came home with about 500 shots to sort through. The live jousting and the bird shots at 5fps doesn't take long to eat up a lot of card space.

Beautiful captures. The falcon handler really enhances the first shot, really great image.

Great shots, particularly like the 1st shot captures the feel of the event...

Gotta agree... the first bird is a red tailed hawk. Very good picture, especially the first shot of the handler with hawk. That might make a good post on the "people" forum, too. Very nice.
