Well...we have a pond in my backyard that my dad put in a few years back.

We have common goldfish living in it, and have even got lucky enough to have them reproduce over the years.

We also have added tadpoles over the spring/summer in the past. Sometimes the frogs make it through the winter, but I think a few of them have not. BUT!!!!! Both frogs made it through this winter. And we also discovered a hobo toad haha that has decided to take up residence in our pond as well.

I saw the toad for the first time today and tried to get a picture of it. I ran in the house, got my camera came outside...dead batteries. Ran back in, got my other 2 batteries, same thing. Ran back in grabbed any old AA batteries and ran back out to take pics of it, but it disappeared.

Well...I walked slowly around the pond looking for it, and just as I did it jumped in the water. DARN!!! But to my surprise the one little frog was sitting across the pond on the other side in the weeds. I almost missed him.

So I hurried up and took a few shots. Up until now I only had 2 fuzzy far away shots, because they get spooked very easily and always hop in the water.
So I am very excited that I got some today!!!
I'm pretty sure its an American Bullfrog. We also bought Leopard Frog tadpoles but it doesn't look anything like them. So I'm guessing its the Rana Catesbeiana (american bullfrog). If anyone thinks otherwise, what is it?!?!

Can you spot him?

I know they aren't great because I was trying to get them quickly. Not to mention I have no zoom lens, had no tripod and was reaching halfway across the pond to get these  So I'm glad for just having these ones.

Bit too camouflauged for my liking. Well spotted though.

Ribbit-ribbit Part 2

Anke I know they are camoflauged, but thats what he does. He is very hard to see. I can't even get within 2 feet of the pond without him jumping in, so I was grateful that I even got to get any pics of him nonetheless.

Well hahaha, just about an hour after I posted the frog pics, wouldn't you know it...Mr. Toad decided to make an appearance!! :D BUT!!! Apparently I guess since it's a toad and he knows he is poisonous, he isn't shy at all. I had the camera about 6 inches from him and he didn't budge, not even for hours later.
Can anyone identify what type of toad this is? I haven't a clue, since we didn't put it there, it just sorta came on it's own. And I guess frogs and toads get along right? I hope so...

I know these still aren't the greatest pics because I was crouching down without a tripod, with my not very high-tech camera. So I'm just glad I was able to get what I got. I more so would just like to know what kind of toad this is...hmmmmm

Good view of warts. This is why I'm pretty sure it's a toad, that and its drier looking and has those glands behind it's eyes (I believe where the poison is)

It's markings are weird though, and has a white underbelly with black dalmation type spots on it.

Last one...only the face a mother could love
