Great photos, I would like to go there one year. Were you a media snapper or are these photos taken as a paying member of the public?

Just a paying spectator i'm affraid.... i live in hope that maybe one day somebody will want to pay me to go to something like this!!!

thanks for the comments, unfortunately i didn't get too many more good shots, struggled to get good positions and also think i need to improve my technique with the new lens.... had a fair few oof shots.... :(

Just out of curiosity, anybody tell me if it's possible for someone not in the media to get passes to shoot at places like this?? if it was i'd certainly be tempted to try and get access for next year.....

I was already impressed with these shots (not a subject I ahve covered but love viewing them) I am even more impressed that these where taken from public areas and not as media.. The fact that your being asked if you where official should tell you how good they are :)

Can't answer your question but can you answer mine.. Did you have to be a bit sneaky taking these or is everyone open and allowed to stand around with big lenses taking pics?

Briliant pics.. I would have believed they where done profesionally as media.. Problem now is every man and his dog will be there next year trying to emulate you from the public area. hehe :)

Thanks for the kind words! i always admire your work [as well as several other shooters in here] so your complements really meant something to me! Cheers.....

As for having to be sneaky, no need.... there were plenty of people in the crowds openly using their 70-200L's and 100-400L's so i think you can pretty much take what you please, i think as long as you can find a spot to take your shot in the crowd then your good to go! [easier said than done!]..... i guess they might get a bit funny if you turned up with a 400 or 500mm though!! but as far as i can tell there are no official restrictions........ thanks again for the complements....... :D

Great shots Steve
As for press passes i have one coming for Chatsworth but i don't think it will get me better shots than last year just get me in free, with my 300mm+1.4x i could get any shot i wanted, this year if it comes in time (2x) i will be able to shoot at 600mm F5.6 i know just the spot to use it

Nice shots Steve. I would love to shoot that event some day.

# 3 & 4 is my favorites !! You should be happy with your shots. Its hard to get close at Badminton ive heard without proper press card.

Was the horse nosebleeding in # 6 and 7 maybe?
