...is worth it sometimes
The bird is a white-throated sparrow. I love the way those sing.
Both shots at 200mm, f4, 1/1000, ISO500

May 09, 2007 17:52 | #13 Thank you everyone! I must say if I continue shooting birds as much as I have the last few days I'll soon need a longer lens than my 70-200 kenyc wrote in post #3174518 Iso 500? Yes, the 5D has 1/3 stop increments for ISO. blonde wrote in post #3175000 it is amazing to me what a difference it makes when you shoot birds and wildlife at eye level. when i started out, i never paid much attention to it and now it is my no.1 concern when shooting. It's always nice to be at your subject's eye level, since it makes the pic more interesting. But the major benefit is the way it improves the bokeh! Think of it: if you shoot downwards at an angle the background (specifically the part of the background that will be around the outline of the bird) will be much closer to the bird (hence much less blurry) than if you shoot horizontally at the bird's level. 5D - 17-40L, 70-200L f4, 50 f1.4, PowerShot A430
