I am looking to get me a camera sack and have boiled my selection down to these two.

At the moment I need it to carry my 30D, 17-40, canon 70-200F4, 50mm, ext tubes,1.4 extender, hoods and bits and bobs. I know this is only a small amount but these may grow to another couple of lenses. One of these maybe a 300 F4 or maybe even a 400 F5.6. I may even got for an extra body in future I don't know yet but I want that expandability.

Also I need it to be able to carry a decent tripod. I am looking at maybe a Manfrotto 190PROX and one of the ball heads. Again I am the jury is still out on this one but it will be around this size and weight.

I am thinking these packs are around the right size. I don't want to go any bigger really. If my lense collection grew that much. I think I would rather leave a few behind than carry the extra weight.

Anyone experinace with either of these packs? Any recommendations or warnings?

I went with Tamrac 5 in the end and have been very happy with it. I can't compare it to the Lowepro obviously but it suits my needs and is very robust, well made and has all the right compartments :)

I have the Tamrac 5 and carry a 40d with grip and sigma 24-70 with hood on attached to the body. I also carry a XTI with grip no lens shoved in sideways,a Tokina 12-24, a E-FS 60 ,and my 100-400L. I carry my 580exII in a optional outside compartment. I strap my tripod on the bottom of the bag . My wife walks behind me so I don't fall backwards:lol: I really like the Tamrac 5

Ahh that's interesting about the tripod. I have a Manfrotto 190PROXB and find the tripod holder just silly for this size and weight of tripod and unbalanced. I have started to push 2 of the legs through the side holders and find that much better. I am curious to how you strap yours to the bottom though?

I got some straps with buckles to fit through the slots in the bottom of the bag. I have a pretty big tripod so its hard getting through a narrow doorway or between two trees close together:lol:
