I have just started to use PS CS2 USM to sharpen and although I'm still learning, I am amazed how much better the results are compared to using DPP and LR.

The only problem is that I have to now open 2 applications to do my PP instead of the preferred 1.

I have read somewhere that you can export the USM action into LR and then you can use it in LR.

Can someone please explain how this is done (step by step idiots guide)?

PS I'm using around 100-150%, Radius 1, Threshold 0. The results look good to me but would appreciate if I'm doing it right or if there is a better setting?

I think you could create a droplet and launch that from LR, but it still opens PS to run the sharpening...

In CS2 go to File > Automate > Create Droplet. A new window appears. Save the droplet in the Export Actions folder for Lightroom (I don't have the exact location memorized yet).

Now open Lightroom and during export the bottom drop down menu for what to do after export should have your sharpening droplet.

Where do you then apply the USM settings?

When you select the droplet does it just open PS with the photo or is it all done in Lightroom?

It gets done in PS. How it acts is dependant upon you action. If you have save steps or setup the droplet to save and close then that is what will happen. If no save steps are in the droplet your files will remain open.

when lightroom calls my CS2 droplet/action to add some USM sharpen, i get an jpeg option prompt which stops the process; i have to click ok for all my images before it saves and closes the file.

i can't duplicate the popup menu in CS2 with an open file running the action? what did i do wrong?

Recreate the droplet. But this time in the Save area of the droplet window choose Save and Close and Overide Save As commands.
