Sorry the photo is poor but the light was terrible and I was shooting in near Tropical Storm conditions.

The bird was on a salt marsh mudflat on May 9th, 2007 along the coast of South Carolina. Other birds around included Least Sandpipers, Semipalmated Plover, Black-bellied Plovers, Black-necked Stilts, Dunlins, Skimmers, Spotted Sandpipers, etc. You get the idea.

Any suggestions on ID would be apperciated. Thanks.

My first thought on this one is that it's a Semi Palmated Sandpiper. I will stand to be corrected on this because there is nothing in the photo to indicate size.

As already suggested it's a Semipalmated Sandpiper - nicely captured.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think the shorter beak makes it a Semipalmated Sandpiper with remnants of its winter feathers.
