Can anyone recommend any good music photographers? I really like the work of Anton Corbijn:

well Kalle on these boards is fantastic; hard to imagine he's only been at it for a year or so.

Charles Peterson is an icon, and rightly so. THEE documenter of the sub pop/seattle/grunge scene. awesome work.

from the old Forced Exposure mags, i liked Monica Dee's and Phil-n-Phlash's work quite a bit. kinda still working in that vein is John Nikolai (http://www.official-john-nikolai.com/ (external link))

i'm sure there are others i really like but can't name; The Wire generally has very good photos in it.

Agreed.

Here are my three:
Annie Liebovitz (her music photography is stunning but she is probably the one I know who can shoot *anything* and do it brilliantly)
Finn Costello
Ross Halfin (for making Duff McCagan look sh*t hot. That is a feat on it's own.)

Gear list:

Peterson and Liebovitz, definitely. Thanks for the recommendations! I've never heard of Monica Dee or Ross Halfin...
Which board can I see some of Kalle's work on, by the way?

Another favourite of mine is Mick Rock. I'm a big fan of Syd Barrett, and apparently they went to school together! I read an interesting article about Rock in the NME recently: apparently he's considering going on tour again (with the Kooks, this time...?):

Wow... I had a look at Kalle's portfolio. Incredible that he has only been taking music photographs for such a short time!!
I think this image is my favourite:

It reminds me of one of Corbijn's most famous ones, of Tom Waits:

Great music photography is obviously all about disembodied hands... :D
