Been tweaking my new setup - MSI P6N SLI Platinum + Intel E6700 + 2 GB Corsair XMS 6400C4 RAM - this thing is a Photoshop users dream. CS3 will open from a cold start in under 5 seconds. Process a RAW file via Lightroom to automatically open CS3, darn near instant.

I've got it running stable with a 25% overclock from 2.66 MHz to 3.33 MHz (stock CPU cooling), nice little extra once you find the right voltage combinations. Only issue I'm stuck on is the eSATA output is buggy and won't work all the time. Hopefully a future bios update will address that issue.

Just a question. What made you go the 6700 over the core 2 quad?

Dual Core Rocks for sure. Wish I had it in this desktop. I'm poor though. :(

I'm envious of that 2.66GHz. And I thought my 2.16GHz Dualie was blazin. :D

Hehe, I am using a single Core 1.8GHz AMD w/ 2GB RAM and I think it runs pretty good. I can only imagine if I had a system like that.

Budget for now. The board supports Quad Core and those prices are suppose to drop in August so I'll be keeping an eye out.

I'm running around 3.5ghz on my E6400 and it's rock solid. CS3 and LR opens up within seconds, what a big difference from my old P4 2.8ghz!

My system is no slouch either. I put in an extra 2gb for a total of 4gb of RAM also. But I'm running a 32-bit OS, so I'm only seeing 3gb while the other 1gb is allocated to system resources. Does that make sense?

Yeah I am not 100% happy with this board and very well might RMA back to newegg before the 30 days is up. Its had a few bios issues that I've managed to work around and MSI tech support wasn't much help either. Other than that its passed the Orthos blend testing at this clock for several hours.

Congratulations on the new machine! What OS are you using?

I can sort of appreciate what you are running with the dual core processors. but mine is about 1.5 years old -- so it is already a dinosaur.

My PC uses an Intel 955 motherboard and Intel 2.8 GHz dual core processor. I have 4 GB Patriot RAM, but I forget exactly what the bus speed is -- I think it is 800 MHz. All that along with two W-D 500 GB SATA II drives in a RAID1 configuration makes my head swim.

I just wanted a simple case, but wound up getting some sort of geeky gamer's case with all of the blue lights on the fans and cables and 10 fans (can you believe 10 fans) and other nonsense bells and whistles just because they offered a good deal on the case.

I am considering a better monitor for Photoshop work and plan to check out the Samsung 422T. The Viewsonic that I currently have is the pits ... it already has some burn-in and I can't get the color uniform across the screen. I have also thought about the LaCie monitors, but they are a bit too expensive.

Now load up Windows Vista and watch it bog down....

My computer is a dual Core clocked 3.8 GHz and 8 gig Ram dual 160 gig HD 800 Mhz cache and Vista slowed it down big time.

On other foot the more Vista is run it learns and picks up speed. Don't ask me how just an observation I have noticed over time

You seem to know your PC well having a configuration like that but tell me......how on earth could you install Vista on such nice system? It seem beyond belief that you invest in such a fine hardware and destroy it by installing the hog Vista.

Hasta la vista........

Nice part with having dual hard drives is I use one HD for XP pro and the other for Vista.

Initiailly it was setup in raid 0 so I reconfigured and split the HD for there own independence and reloaded both xp and vista on there own HD.

I also forgot to mention I have dual 512gtx cards as my video cards.

Around $1500 for everything I bought, that includes two Raptor hard drives + 2 - 250 gig SATA II storage drives and a Evga 8800 GTS OC 640MB Video card + Corsair HX 520 PSU. I used my exisitng Antec LanBoy case and DVD drives.

And no Vista on this rig for anytime soon.
