i just did this shot as i was a bit short on lenth yesterday lol so thought i would try the 5d with this combo taken at 1/250sec f8 iso 200 tripod mounted ,i had to manul focus of cause and i have pp'd the shot as its the end result that matter's .
this is full frame and the bird was about 25ft away ,i think it looks promising.

Well you may have needed a little more shutter speed (I'd rec at least ISO 400 with the doubler) but I get very good results using a 2X TC on the super-teles especially if you have af on a 1 series body.

Yes canon tc , i think i need to up the iso as mentiond above 1/250 was to slow for the way it was moving..

Just wondered, cause I had the Canon 1.4x and 2x and neither one gave good quality shots on the 30D. I got better quality with a borrowed Tamron 1.5x. Go figure.
