Yes these birds are very skittish and wary of humans but I was in a hide ( a 'stop' I think in the US ) on a WWT site in Washington, N.E.England and couldn't belive my luck as this bird with her chicks just kept comming & comming ending up about 4 meters away - you gotta keep still!!. My luck held as about half hour later a family of Greylag came wadering by - will post later. 5D., 40D., Sig.150 f2.8macro., 100-400L, 24-105L., 17-35L.,580EX, GB1140., 190XProB., Manf.222. Think both of our luck was in that day as I think we caught the same Lapwings. You must have been there earlier than me as you have great lighting. It was a bit overcast when I took my pictures https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=317080
