Excellent shots.
I love the irridescence on the first shot.
You did really well getting so close to them, ive found lapwings over here are one of the most twitchiest birds going.

Great shots, as said how did you manage to get so close.... The ones near me are the most nervous of birds....

Nice shots. The adult Lapwings were giving one of the local Herons some serious stick when it got too close to the chicks!

Great shots. I haven't seen Lapwing shots as good as these, or as close.
In some places the Lapwing is known as the Peewit, because of the cry it makes,

If I am out there, and keep pressing the button, I might get a good one! ;)

Wow the colours on that first shot! Beautiful pictures of my favourite all time bird! Don't you just find those (f)lapping wings and quick manoeuvres mesmerising!?

Rob, Keith, Pete, Deb, PeterUK300, adifor, rocklyons, kipper, Phil, paulrus and olly k, Many thanks for your kind words - it's great to be back!. Yes these birds are very skittish and wary of humans but I was in a hide ( a 'stop' I think in the US ) on a WWT site in Washington, N.E.England and couldn't belive my luck as this bird with her chicks just kept comming & comming ending up about 4 meters away - you gotta keep still!!. My luck held as about half hour later a family of Greylag came wadering by - will post later.
Once again Many thanks and kind regards Alan.

Nice shots Sharpy. Think both of our luck was in that day as I think we caught the same Lapwings. You must have been there earlier than me as you have great lighting. It was a bit overcast when I took my pictures https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=317080 :D
