Another great series Gary and I'm envious of your ability to take shots like these from you back yard. As a rule, do you use the flash most of the time?

Nice series Gary. I like the pose in #2, and the view of the crown in #3. The Chipping Sparrow is owning that rock!

As always you post pics that are just beautiful ! These are no exception. The kinglet with the crown up is definately my favorite.

:D Thanks and I wish they were in the yard all year but its likely they just wen't through on migration. I have not seen even one of these species in the past few days. I did see a Brown Thrasher in my yard the other day and that was a shock...As a rule I have the flash on the camera all the time and in at least 80 % of instances I am using the flash for fill but almost never as a primary source of light. The 580EX can sync with high speeds so I might be shooting at 1000/sec and set the flash at -2/3 to - 2 . I found my keeper ratio went way up.

And a big thanks to Anke, Snappa, Dennis, downyup, Dan and Dan, Sindri and Chris...very much appreciated and soerry for taking so long to say so but I have been absent from the forum the last day,
