Learning about post-processing an looking for feedback

I've used film for years but when I first switched to digital, I just used P&S. I finally made the plunge and got my first DSLR. I'm pretty good with computers, but I'm just learing about post processing RAW images, etc.

I'd love some feedback on some of the shots I've taken.
- Am I too aggressive, not aggressive enough on USM?
- Would some of those shots be improved with better color?
- Am I totally missing some PP techniques that would make those shots look better?
- etc

The amount of USM depends on the subject and your personal preference.
For what it's worth I generally use the following settings as a starting point:
General subjects: 85% Radius 1 Threshold 4
Landscape: 225% r 5 t 0
Portrait: 75% r 2 t 3

Oh, that's awesome. I was trying to figure a starting point and on Canon's learning site, the guy says he starts from 200 and works his way down. That didn't seem to work for me because I noticed for portraits, it made people's faces look weird.

Do you apply USM to camera JPEGs or just to RAW or just from JPEGs from RAW?
