Just got my 70-200 F4 IS and it's definitely not white. I would call it a very light bege, maybe a little greyish. But not the bright white that I expected. Has anybody heard of Canon changing the color of these lenses? Not that it's a big deal. I just haven't heard anybody mention this before.

That's how it's supposed to look. No worries. It's just more fun to say "white lenses" than "creamy...kinda beige-ish lenses..kinda"

Yeah I was surprised, because initially I always thought the lenses looked white from the pics I saw on the internet. But as I saw more pics of them I realized they aren't white.

It's weird since online most do look white in pictures, but ya, that is how they are supposed to look in RL (real life :p )

They were never white to begin with, I believe canon called it a "putty" color. The color looks fine, enjoy that nice lens:D

Thanks for the quick replys. I just never heard anybody say anything other than white. As you can tell this is my first "L" lens. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! I shouldn't have taken so long to get one.

I think there are a lot of use that got our first L and wondered why it wasn't white. Creamy is dreamy!

I have an official printed Canon catalogue and the 70-200 f/4 IS definitely looks darker than the other 70-200s.
At least the red ring is red ;)

Hey, stop messing with the OP. Everyone here knows that the Japan Class 2 made lenses are beige, and only the Pro USA L lenses are actually 100% white.

Just get a can of duron spraypaint and lighten it up a bit.

On a serious note, its not plain white because if it was Canon wouldn't make a MINT on touch-up paint.
