Okay, back on topic.
I did a search for 'Music Photographer' and came across some nice websites (and quite a few mediocre ones). Some of the nice ones:
Ami Barwell (external link)
Used Film (external link), Stuart Leech (external link) (off line, but front page looks promising, and myspace looks okay.)

I'm old and have been doing photography for a long time. I see things I like and styles I like but tend to remember the thing or style and not the creator ... my bad! I think it both important to have muses and to be constantly evolving. I did some hellacious work back during the Vietnam protest era just after I was honorably discharged from the Air Force. I shot a series of 300 B&W images from a protest march in San Francisco with another guy and we had a showing. [We shot thousands but the show was 300.] I really liked that. The images were powerful and compelling. Almost nothing in Live Entertainment can match it.

So, I still like Ansel Adams. And Mapplethorpe. Beyond that things get lost in the noise just like bands and singer/songwriters for those of us not musically inclined. There are always individual images that catch our imagination, heart or soul ... but they are often more circumstance or opportunity than something that can be 'achieved'.

Well, crap, I'm just rambling again. Who were we talking about? Kalle? James' crappy spelling and unctuation? Eh? [Edit: a 'little dyslexic' is like a little pregnant.]

Very interesting post. With music, I am more intested in the artist than the song. I tend to really get into certain artists...and I think about them in terms of albums and careers instead of hit songs. I haven't really thought about whether or not I have a similar mindset with photography.

For reference and guidance, I used to read everything published since 1960... (Had personal resources at a few private family "book stores".) Too many great photographers to mention...

Most recently, was awarded a prize book for some of my pictures: :D
Jim Marshall "Proof" a VH 1 Classic - "Can You Hear It?"

and I purchased a couple of dozen books on photography including: :D

"Photo Pass" - The Rock and Roll Photography of Randy Bachman
