I almost went to the wetlands again today, but decided to save the gas and see what showed up in my yard. I'm glad I did as I've been wanting to get some better quality shots of this bird. And a bonus was three of them here at once. I think, mostly from the way they acted that it is a female and a juvenile that looks like a female, or two females and one male.

The female...

And the male, who came quite close, 15 feet, and saw me yet wasn't bothered by me being there...

I use CS2 to edit the RAW's and about a month ago broke out the Bridge plugin cause I have nothing else to view the RAW's in other than to open them in CS2. Bridge is real handy for multiple deletes and seeing a filmstip of the RAW's too. I recommend it, but it's a bit of a resources hog.

I'm using Canon Digital Professional for PP and conversion from RAW to Tiff or JPG. I like it over anything I've tried in it has conversions for My 20D and 300/4 and 500/4. I finish edit, crop, add text or anything else in Elements 4.0

I've got bunches of these in my yard now, males and females. They are kinda shy but not as bad as they used to be. They love the birdbath I put out. I think they are a really pretty bird.

Thanks Karen. I have to set up my bird bath here. I think it will bring in a lot more birds. And I may have to change my mind on the female Cardinal being the most beautiful American bird after seeing these guys. :D

Thanks Keith. My yard is a work in progress. I have several "Preplanned Perches" all strategically placed for distance, light and angle, and for different kinds of birds, all set up so I can sit inside and shoot in comfort. Unfortunately, it's going to have to change a bit when I put the air conditioner in the window for these atrocious summers we have here. ;)

Thanks Sindri. It looks like these guys like the food and have decided to stay the summer. In a nearby field, I saw some Baltimore Orioles and am hoping they follow the trail of seed crumbs to my yard soon also. ;)
