Mike I think it's a Scaup - but - could be wrong, anyway it's a lovely shot.

Thank you both and yes it's a Scaup I think a greater but with out a tape measure and the Duck in hand it's hard to tell :)

Pretty easy to differentiate but the simplest way is greenish sheen to head = Greater, purplish = Lesser.
