so i woke up at 5am today like i do every Sat and headed out to my favorite spot. when i got there, it was clear that it is going to be a very short day with very little birding. instead of packing up and going home like i wanted to do, i decided to take what i can get and do some experimentation. please let me know what you think...

What do you do when you get serious? :D

I'm partial to the Red Wing as I have yet to get one in a good pose, even with thousands of them around here. :D

I'm digging the first two. The third and fourth are a little weird, texture-wise or something. Did you do some weird sharpening?

Rob- i did use fill flash on all of them.

Mumbles- the 3rd one might seem weird because it is 100% crop. the 4th only add level tweaks an everything else is a result of panning with a bird doing close to 50mph.. if you are talking about the second one (the black and white) than yes, the image has been through quite lot of PP :)

i love it Dan. i looked at the red wing black bird image and it was clear that the better beamer does in fact work judging by the detail in the blacks.
