I'm a bird watcher and have kept a life list since June 2, 1989. I have recently been working on cataloging my "photographic" life list and storing it on Flickr. Right now I have 171 birds on my photographic life list.

In searching through my bird photos the other day I stumbled on some photos of short-billed dowitchers that I had forgotten about. Here's a piece of one of the better photos.

This is a very nice shot. I have to ask, how big are these birds? I shot some sandpipers the other day, first time I ever saw one and was expecting a chicken sized bird. Imagine my surprise when I saw they were only sparrow sized with long legs. :)

It's always interesting how on this forum some very fine shots receive little feedback, and vv....I guess it's the feedback reciprocity principle in operation. (he he)
Be that as it may, this is an excellent photo of a flock of beautiful birds.

Sorry if I'm being dense but did I break some sort of protocol?

Naaa, had nothing to do with you. The forum is just moving so fast that a lot of threads drop off before anyone posts to it. It's nice to see other people posting to your threads, but as that link says, turn about is fair play. You post in mine, I'll be sure to post in yours, that kind of thing. And there are a lot of lurkers, they go look but never post. ;)

Not at all.....like anything in life, images are sometimes judged not on their own merit but based on the author's name. ;) Granted, as Mitch said, there are lottsa pictures and posts here.....who has the time to see them all, let alone comment thoughtfully and usefully to the author.

I understand now - Thanks.

Birds is about the only place I post. For me, its about the birds not just the photography. I love posting to the ID threads but don't know enough about photography to offer much useful feedback on other threads.

As Mitch pointed out the number of daily uploads on this forum, especially in the spring and summer, as incredible. Threads can move to page three on teh same day that they're posted. I know that I try and view as many posts as possible but I'm not on the site every day. I'm really glad that I didn't miss your shot! :D

Very nice shot here! I like all the bills facing the same direction except for the three at right.
