a bit anticlimactic after getting such close shots of the kingfisher, but soon after i took those, i spotted this killdeer running along the side of a pond. he let me get several nice shots before he flew off...

thanks, guys... killdeers around here are usually not so tame, mostly they draw the line at about 15 yards or so. this one let me get within 20 feet.... sure makes it easier to get the shot when the subject cooperates! ;)
