"Save for Web" Action/Batch

Is there a way to add the ability to "Save for Web" optimized by file size to an action set?

Is there a way to make the "optimized by file size" the default "Save for Web" setting?

I would like to be able to batch re-size and save for web my files to 100k, but I can't get an action to save each file at a different level, I'm using CS3.

Oooh, no, that might be a bit more complex than actions can achieve - you might need to enter the confusing (to me, at least) world of scripting.

It's harder. I suggest making the action work most of the time, and doing the few exceptions by hand.

Instead of going for 100K, since you'd inherently lose more quality with some than others, why don't you save them all to the same scale? You'd have variations in file size but not compression artifacts that way. Just make a more complex image come under 100K to see what quality you need to use and apply that to everything.
