Hey Mitch :) :) Thanks for the nice comment on these.. I went for the one I could afford ;)... The 4 megapixel version.. 1000 bucks with less than 20,000 shots and looks to have never been out of a studio.... Mitch.... What a difference the 1 series makes... I am amazed... Fast deadly accurate focusing, with 45 focus points and predictive focusing for in flights, spot metering.... On and on... It has proven my 100-400 to be better than I thought it was... I can nail them wide open, fast, and sharp as a tack... Boy this is going to get really expensive now... I am looking to get the MkIIN hopefully someone upgrading to the III will price theirs in my range.... Great to hear from you pal... Take care....Alex

All beautiful shots Alex, as always. Which model 1D did you get?

I know what you mean. I put my 30D AND Bigma up for trade for a 5D body, but got no takers. I don't blame them, but it's the only way I can ever afford one. :)

Hi Rick... Thanks brother... I appreciate it.. I have shot the Nighthawks in flight on many occasions and never got more than sharp sillouettes.. It was very cool to come across this guy while walking to my shooting spot.. Wish it had been in flight, but I was happy to finally see first hand what they actually look like ;)... Thanks for taking a look, and I'm glad you like this series.....Alex

I'm with you Mitch.. Working for a living is over rated :D :D.. I can't speak highly enough of the 1D even at 4 megapixel it is a smoking body and makes a world of difference... I have lost some respect for the shooters who nail shots consistently with the 1D series... It is almost a no brainer... Amazing piece of gear... Now that they are "outdated" a good basic 1D can be had for under a grand.... Worth every nickel.... The lower res kind of sucks but doesn't show unless you try to over do cropping magic.... It is teaching me to get the comp right, and get closer ;) Take care brother...

I got a kick out of the plumage being in such demand that the natives are always plucking them clean... I guess this is why we don't see them in flight :) :) Thanks Karen... Great to hear from you... I appreciate the view and always for your nice comments... Take care.....

Hi Karen... Yep I tore the labrum in my shoulder and damaged my rotator cuff... The surgery will be all good :)... Thanks for the well wishes... I missed the thread on some of the birds looking reptilian, but I agree with most of that :).... I got a kick out of the Iguanabird plumage being treasured and so we usually spot them after someone has plucked them clean :).... Take care Karen....Alex
