I was shooting out my window hide again today, rain... And I noticed that there are a lot of birds with some kind of red in them and 5 of them come to my yard. :)

The Cardinal...

What! No Tanager?!?!? I want my nickel back! :D

Nice images from the blind, Mitch. I though a couple looked like they were sweating but then I reread and saw your comment about the rain!

Thanks Ed. I'll give you a quarter for a tanager. I can't even sneak up on an Oriole and I know they are right down in the field behind the house.

Yup, it rained last night, a half inch, and then sprinkled a few times during the day. Gonna be clear and hot tomorrow and a good day to get the digiscope out to the park. :)

I surprised the heck out of myself the other evening when I "pished" (which I am not very good at) and brought out a male and female Scarlet Tanager. Alas all I had was the binoculars so I could only look!

Hmmm, might have to try that. There are a lot of birds here now.

Thanks Sindri, Peter, Michael and Rubberhead. I know the second one is a House Finch, but he's new so it might be a juvenile. I don't know that much about them yet to tell. I guess if I see a Tanager, I'll know what it is now. :)

Nice work on the reds, Mitch. I have lots of photos of red blobs that were supposed to be feathers. Wow, you're really close on the RWBB.

Thanks Joe. The Red Wing was actually as far away as the Cardinal, but I used the Bigma and a 20mm Kenko tube. He's about 30 feet or so, then when I saw how sharp it was, I cropped it to show the water drops beaded up on his back. I thought it came out pretty good. :)

Doesn't look like you had a problem with the red on these!
