Hi all. I'm having trouble keeping my Lasso tool going where I want it to go. I have enlarged a photo in CS2. I'm using the Lasso tool to seclect a part of the pic but as I get to the point where the photo goes off screen the pic suddenly scrolls, way more than I want it to and I end up selecting a line right thru the thing I'm trying to trace. Is there a setting I can click to make the arrow keys on my key pad do scrolling for my, or the scroll button on the mouse? I can scroll with the button until I select the Lasso but after selection I can scroll. I hope that was clear enough.

Cheers..........HB

I don't know a direct answer, but I was recently enlightened about the "Quick Mask Mode" that lets you paint your selection rather than trying to lasso it.

You click on the little icon on the tall skinny task bar that almost looks like a camera. Paint your selection, then click the icon again and you'll see it lasso'd. You can also soften the edges of the mask by doing this:

press the space bar - it toggles the hand tool allowing you to move around the image with the mouse. Then when you've got to the right place let go of the space bar and you're back to your lasso tool.

Thanks CD. I figured it out though. I found if you stop, hold down the space bar, the little grab hand appears and you move the pic, then let go and continue. Thanks for the advise though.

either way would work. but pressing the space bar will do what your after.

one thing you can do is select the area with the lasso tool and then change to the quick mask tool. when you are in this mode you can feather the edges buy using a blur filter.

That's ok, just ask the question again, and get two completely different answers that also work ;)

I thought you had to hold down the space bar, learn something new every day :)
