That was the double rebate discount! The 100-400L has $20 more discount than the Fall double rebate.

Good news! It's a much better process than dealing with that inept rebate company that they've used in the past. Last time I inquired with them, they replied 3 weeks after I got my check!

Same for me. I did purchase the 70-200 IS not too long ago, but it's okay. I've used it so much, it was worth the $100 difference. I love that lens.

Last fall the rebate was $50 on the 70-200 2.8 IS & 24-70. Canon must be feeling generous since they'll be saving a ton of money on rebate fulfillment or too many people are buying the f4.
