I sure hope so as I kind of think they should reduce the price off whatever they were selling the item for. If not, I'll certainly try giving them a call. In that case, it would have been better if Canon was still doing the mail-in rebate because then you could still buy at the "Show Specials" price and then still mail in for your rebate. In this respect, it was cheaper to buy during the last mail-in rebate promo. Hmmm...I wonder if I should bother trying to call in to plead the case. But since I am not ordering anything, I am not bothered. I think I will sit this one out. Sorry to anyone wishing it was better. The aggravation this instant rebate will save you is worth buying the thing you've been wanting for some savings. Suzie - Still Speaking Canonese!

With the rebate now, it just takes the "regular" store price down to $1599 which is still the same as what we could have bought it for before the rebate. It is certainly a smaller set of lenses that what I'm used to seeing. I wonder if the rebate is targeted at these lenses to move stock, as they aren't selling well? It wouldn't appear that Canon would offer a rebate on an item that is currently selling well. David (aka BigBlueDodge)

I agree that the rebate is better for those items that did not have Show Special pricing, but it's pretty much the same net price for those items that were already on sale. It's a little bit unfair, IMO, because B&H gets the rebate back from Canon, so that means they're pocketing it. B&H will adjust to the market. They are already below suggested retail price. If the other competitors like Adorama start adjusting lower, they will have to follow. Till then, Best Buy types of stores that sell at MSRP will adjust to the instant rebate. I guess the mail-in type of rebate has it's ups and downs. Aloha,

This is only a guess since I can't read it...but being that they are only next to the "IS" lenses....than my guess would be some new logo for "IS" lenses....Canon seems to be calling it "Optical Image Stabilization" now.
