I agree with the 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 IS combo. I use those for weddings now because the colors and sharpness are almost there (primes still rule), but I need the zoom. Foot zoom is okay sometimes, but the coverage of those two lenses is exactly what I wanted and got.

or 80-200mm f/2.8 magic drainpipe

either way good lenses tend to hold value so you arent out so much if something new comes out.

the 70-200 and 24-70 combo is godly :)

and then you can always add on a prime for a focal length that you really like

35L with your 300D sounds like a match made in heaven. I loved my Drebel for the dreamy colours.

dont be so modest, you are getting amazing pictures with that sigma guy :D

I would say try the 85 1.8 or the 50 1.4 both lenses are fairly cheap and great , I cant justify spending the money on the L's but I think these are almost as good anyway :)

Of course ... do not underestimate the Sigma 30/1.4 EX.

Or ... as Doc said some time ago ... a nice cheap Zeiss.
e.g. the CZJ (Carl Zeiss Jena, from the old German Democratic Republic) Flektogon 4/25, 2.4/35 or similar... available from eBay for less than 100$ (in manual M42 mount, of course)

Best regards,
Andy

The best colors I have seen on this site are from J.A.F. Doorhof and his Mamiya. Can't really beat 16 bit color!

In the past my fave has been both the 70-200 2.8 and or the 200 2.8. Both are razor sharp for both full bleed and double trucks. But I have used the 85 1.2 and the 300 2.8. It just depends on how you want the BG to look. Fashion outdoors where the location is part of the image it is critical to get some areas sharp so that you can see the location but also without degrading the focus on the model and the outfits.

AD's are often after a 'just so" image with the right elements included while excluding elements that detract from the theme, look and styling of the image. If you know the approx size that the image will be used in a publciation it helps greatly.

Whats the sharpest, most colorful lens for modeling?

I hear any of the 70-200s look good in a skirt. The 135L is good if you like 'em petite and dark.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)
