Where have all the birds gone? The last week has been unbelieveably quiet. Three out of five times out, I came back without a single image. Even our local birding experts were lamenting yesterday about a four hour bird walk we took without a single Warbler.

So this evening, in a moment of desperation, I found this little fella doing a bit of preening. He looked good when he started and he looked good when he finished but in between he was the embodiment of disheveled!

Nice one Ed. Is he wet?

I've lost my white crowns that were here for 2 weeks, and all the Downys are gone, no Titmice or Juncos, but they've been replaced by plenty of other birds, so it works out. The wheel turns. :)

Nope not wet but it certainly looks that way. He just got himself all fluffed out. I have to say that he really gave himself a thorough preening and cleaning.

Dan, Steve, Dennis,

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you like the image. He hung out for quite a while while preening. Musta had a hot date! :D
