Moving Plug-ins From CS2 to CS3

I've attempted to go to the plug in folder in CS2, highlight and copy, for instance, NoiseNinja, then go to the plug in folder of CS3 and paste it in.

Same for pixel genius sharpener.

Neither worked. What am I doing wrong?

Thats how I copied mine but unfortunately CS3 has totally quit working for me so I'm currently back to using CS2.

Even reinstalling won't work, piece of junk software at the moment ...

You could just get PSCS3 to use the PSCS2 pluggin folder.

Did you have to run an install routine when you first installed them in CS2. If you did then it is likely that you will have to do the same for CS3. I tried your solution when I upgraded and it didn't work on all of them but once I ran the install routines all was fine. When I first tried the straight copy function I got some DLL errors on the startup of CS3. After install none so I am assuming that the install routine places the appropriate dll files in the right places.

I have now started using the alternate plugin location in photoshop which makes alot of sense if you ever have to reinstall. This is purely a personal choice though but it works great and is easy to manage your plugins.

You might want to check with your software support to make sure that you don't need an update for CS3.

I actually emailed Seth Resnick, one of the owners/writers of PixelGenius.

He states that plugins don't yet work with CS3; that they all have to be rewritten with the binary code. They do have a beta available for downloading. I'll give that a try.
