I went for a bike ride along the lakefront and was quite pleased with my findings.

I GOT AN ORIOLE!!!!

It was a bad shot but at least I finally found them.

Looks like you had a very good day. I would love to see a Towhee here. We have the Orioles now, I can hear them, but haven't gotten a good shot yet. :)

Nice, I`d love to shoot an oriole (allthough we have the Golden Oriole in the UK) but they are to far south for me. May I ask which lens or lenses you took with you on the bike?

Mark

These were all taken with my 300mm f/4L IS. I have a Tamrac backpack that I keep it in while im riding. When I see the birds I ride past them without making eye contact, lay the bike down, get the camera out, and then walk slowly back to them. Most of the time it works but those orioles........they are hard to get. Canonloader.......have you had any success with them?

With the Orioles? No. I found two at the wetlands last week. They were near the tops of some monster Cottonwood trees and in shade. The pics didn't come out good. Then, on the way back to the truck, I was sitting on the grass beside the trail and three of them came flying and chasing and squawking not 3 feet from my face and went into a bush beside the trail. I wasn't ready. I saw one more pair chasing in another park a couple days ago and got 3 blurred shots before they left the area.

We have them right near my house, I can hear them, but have only seen them from long distance. I was hoping they'd come to the feeders. :)

I hear that they love really really cheap grape jelly. The cheaper the better. I cant get them into my yard because im too far from the lake but I have been seeing them on the shore.

I might have to try that. If peanut butter works, why not grape jelly. :)
