The 33rd Street Bird Police were told of the brutal slaying and dismemberment of Willie the Worm by notorious neighborhood thug, Cock Robin this morning. Eye witness Molly Cowbird described in gory details the premeditated and gruesome murder of Willie the Worm. "He hunted him down like an animal, he threw him around like a rag worm then pecked poor Willie to death, sliced up his body with that razor sharp bill and then he ate him."

When Chief Mitchell was asked by this reporter what Cock Robin would be charged with he said "We had to turn him loose for lack of evidence."

"We all liked Willie. He was a good worm."

Like the story and subject line

Some anatomy of a carnage. Well documented, Mitch.

Those pictures may come in handy on America's Most Wanted: Birds. And Willie's slayer might still end up a jailbird

Thanks Peter and Stephen. With all the rain in the last few days, it's been a robin smorgasbord around here today.

Canon, I'll try and get the cuffs on him tomorrow. :)

Hey Wayne. This is the first time I ever really watched how a Robin goes about getting a worm. First, he either sees it, or hears them. He then pulls it out of the dirt, sometimes breaking the worm. He'll put the part down he has and go after the other end still in the ground. The bigger pieces, he flips around, sort of beating them senseless. It's almost like it's a snake and he's afraid of it. You can see him flipping this one in the air. He did that several times.

Then he picks it up and whips it on the ground a few times, bites it into pieces and eats them. I swear, he can suck them in like a piece of spaghetti. :)

Thanks John, Lawrie and Pat. I had never really paid attention before, especially them throwing a worm like that. Glad everybody liked it. :)
