I'm by no means a bird photographer but I happened to be fishing in an area last week where there were tons of these guys. With the boat silently drifting along I was able to get pretty close to an otherwise skittish bird. I got a few good shots and thought I'd share a couple. Gorgeous birds.

Those are some neat looking birds, I don't think we have them in my neck of the woods.

As for your resizing issues, I'm definitely no expert but I use image size in CS2 to decrease it to allowed size and then I adjust the image quality in "save for web" until it is under 100K. I never save the resized image, just the jpg from "save for web".
