Wow they are amazing colours, all I see around here lately are Pacific Blacks. Nothing remotely as pretty as these, dang Wayne, I'm jelous.

Hey matey, don't be jelous, just get yourself a pet/stunt Wood Duck like Wayne boy has apparently done here.;)

Nice shots. I've gotten close enough once this year to get a halfway decent pic. of one.

They are shy birds.

Good work.

That's a real beauty.
I can not even get to common Mallards that close......like 8 ft ?
You are either getting into some kinda hide or what ?:D
Are wood ducks in Ottawa so much more approachable than those in Toronto ?;)
What gives, Wayne ?

Ahhhh here we go again with the stunt bird nonsense ,,, Peter Peter Peter what shall we do with you ,,,, first off when I go to this particular spot on the river I know I'm going to see ducks , people in Ottawa go there to feed them all the time ,,, the woodies that are there don't come in to be handfed but if you sit on the bank nice and quietly ( could you handle quietly Peter ) , sometimes a Wood Duck will swim by , as happened here now since I'm quiet ,,, not moving they are not threatened by me , now if I were to move he would immediately start swimming away from me or take flight , Now Peter I appreciate your sense of humour and I know you dont really think we train our birds here  , but you have to get over this thought process :p

Thank you to everyone who took time to comment on this thread , your kind words are appreciated
