From my favorite hide, a cool and overcast day. Not very many birds to shoot, but I discovered that I had not taken a picture of the Yellow Warbler.

Nice series of the very pretty Yellow Warbler Dennis. We have lots traveling through our area right now. I really like your second shot, and the use of the flash really helps these shots.

Oh Dennis love the 3rd and 4th mate, what a beaut little warbler and great captures. I think I need to get one of those better beamers.

These look soooooooo over flashed. Try to control that. Also the WB is off. This bird is not fluorescent yellow/green at all :)

I love the position in last photo.

Thanks to all who commented.
Tomcio, I understand your comment. I used a new program (lightroom) to do the raw conversions and it produced the unusual color conversion. I went back and used RSP and reposted the pictures.
Here is my take on using a flash. If the light is too dim to shoot at normal f-stops (f5.6-8) and shutter speeds (1/400 or better) then flash has to take its place, not supplement it (flash fill). I set the camera to synch at maxium flash synch (1/250).

Once you set the flash for fill (F.C. -2/3 to -1 1/3), then ambient light dictates the shutter speed and camera goes to maximum synch (1/250). That is not fast enough to stop subject action or user movement. If it is not set to maximum flash synch then the shutter goes 1/60 sec to 1/100 sec with added light and I have a blurry shot.

In order to use the flash as fill, the shutter speed needs to higher than 1/400 and the flash set at HS (multiple flash). The camera needs then to be reset at flash synch auto, rather than at max (1/250).

If I were to retake those shots without the flash, the shutter speed would 1/100 at 5.6 and 1/60 at f8. I would not be able to get a sharp shot.

If this spot didn't yield such a variety of birds, I would rather take them out in the open.
