Thought this might be an immature bird but don't know of which species it might belong. Any suggestions?

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | May 16, 2007 13:08 | #2 Yup, looks like a female Brownheaded Cowbird. They are rather nice birds but with the unfortunate habit of laying their eggs in other birds nests. Usually birds half their size. The male should be around somewhere, and he's very good looking with a brown head on a grackel colored body. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

I was afraid of that... we have cowbirds here by the millions, and I would rather dump the seed in the lake as feed them. This particular bird was oddly different, though. It wasn't as skittish as the average cowbird. By the way, love your signature line! My sentiments exactly! "Slower minds keep right..."

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | May 16, 2007 13:16 | #4 I have a couple pairs of them that come to my feeders. They don't seem all that shy, as they have no problem coming within 15 feet of me, even when they can plainly see me. They are a friendly bird, getting along fine with all the other birds. Probably scouting out prospective pseudo-parents. Mitch- ____...^.^...____
