anyone have any pricing guidelines for this sort of thing? a band is interested in using 4 of my photos for website usage, as well as being able to provide high-res photos downloadable to media outlets such as newspapers and magazines for editorial usage.

this is all new stuff to me. should i have some sort of contract or T&C in place? i'm thinking that yes, it should at least specify that editorial usage is the only given right.

Here is a very recent link of prices in US $...
Rene' started it, and just a few responded...There are several real good links to pricing...

Personally, I just did another local shoot at Penn's Peak of a Car Show, to raise funds... It's the Jukebox Cruisers, Carbon County Sheriff Junior Deputy Car Cruise...

Locals volunteer their time... Got to use the Canon 24-70mm 2.8L and the 70-200mm 2.8L IS, for the first time... Now if they'd only let me use these lenses indoors...

Make sure that you have a signed invoice before turning over any photos. I was screwed out of $225.00 for a picture because I failed to get a signed invoice ahead of time. I live and learn. I will never make that mistake again.

I am now signed up on printroom. When I photograph local bands I will put the pics up there and if they want to purchase they can. I know it's not what you are asking but for future reference.

Was just searching for that thread, but John beat me to it...
I usually charge about €12,50 per image for web site 'gallery' use. For High-res promo photos (editorial), that's €150,= each. That includes a licence to use the image for 'such and such' usage. (Describe clearly, and put it in the IPTC, so they don't use it for, let's say CD or poster).
Stating of my name is compulsory.

Joe, do you have a link to printroom? I googled it and got several similar different services...

I like the idea of a third party presenting your product... It gets to the point, breaks the ice...and the fine details/modifications can easily be addressed thereafter...

Rene, you beat me to the punch last time by nearly 25 minutes... This was close, 5 minutes isn't that bad... :D

Now, I've got to think more about profits...

Oh, Yeah... Thanks for the heads up... I've yet to gain reimbursement for any of this past year's acquisitions... Frankly, this stuff has to last for a while... I just about spent 10K this past year... Capitalize on resources...create a mass mailer cover letter, for specific deals with bands and venues...and lots more... that's my plan for this next year...;)
