I think the Femal Cardinal is one of our most beautiful birds. The earthtone colors are so easy on the eyes.

The first time I saw this beauty through the lens I knew Ms. Cardinal had some competition in the neighborhood. The Female Rose Breasted Grosbeak is just as beautiful in her own right.

The first image is my favourite here for the angle, light, pose and shrpness but they are all excellent. I think the female Grosbeak is a super looking bird and if you get lucky you will see the golden yellow under the wings much like the rose red that is so predominant under the male's wings...beauties!!

Thanks Gary, Adi, Peter, Jason, Gary and Rick. I tend to not post these birds for some reason, although I take pictures of them every day I am home. I can't resist. :)

Jason, yes, I have the full set of Kenko tubes and use them a lot, especially in my yard where the distance is assured for the day. I didn't use them today. The quality is just as good as the Bigma without the tubes though, and it keeps autofocus. Here are some shots with the 20mm tube behind the Bigma.

And I was going to ask you, which teleconverters are you using for those long distance shots? I have the Sigma 1.4 and 2x TC's, but have found the 2x gives barely acceptable image quality while the 1.4x is fine.

Thanks Wayne. She is a beauty. I held my breath when I first saw her and didn't know what it was. Her and her hubby seem to be here for the summer, I hope. I believe they have a nest somewhere back in the woods.
