The other day, I brought some new sticks home from the woods to replace the ones I've used here for perches since last fall. The most amazing thing happened. As soon as I got them up, all the birds came back to check them out. They didn't even wait for me to get back in the house. It was like new playground equipment went up at a busy park. All the little guys had to try them out. It was quite neat to watch. So change those old sticks people, the birds will love it. :)

Oh wow, this is neat...

Thanks guys. The longer I interact with these guys, the more respect I have for them. They are far more than little mindless balls of feathers. At another long time feeder I know of, the birds will land on your hand. That's what I have in mind here. :D

I should go out and put up some sticks in my backyard too! Thanks for the idea. Great shots as usual.

New sticks, eh? I may have to try that.
Because you are shooting slightly upward, I assume that you are in a blind. Is that correct?
Very nice set. --Rick

The birds really seem to have taken to these sticks, this may sound a little dumb if the aswer is obvious but, what do you do with the sticks, just stick them in the ground or do you try and put them leaning out of bushes?

All nice shots though, your an inspiration to trying to get our gardens into a bird friendly (and photographer friendly) area.

Mark

Really well done. I have certain branches that the birds tend to use plus I have set up a couple of stumps for them to perch on.
I really like the goldfinches. I find it difficult to get the brilliant colour plus detail but you've really managed to get both.
