Was used as a 2nd shooter today at a wedding and my friend, primary shooter, uses CS and Nikon equipment (I still love her though:p). Will she be able to open my .CR2 files or will I have to convert to .tiff, burn to DVD's and for her to review and tweak?
She is currently under the impression that she won't be able to open .CR2 files. Would she need a plug-in for her CS software? if so, where would you download one?

If you're talking about Adobe CS2, then yes, the files will open. Adobe Camera Raw has import filters for a huge amount of RAW formats from different cameras.

Thanks Pete... She actually has Adobe CS...(I believe that was the next version after PS7...).
I'll ask her to search 'help' within CS to see if she has ACR. Thanks again!

It's a free download from the Adobe site if she doesn't. It shouldn't be a problem at all.

If you are talking about the .CR2 files from your 5D, PS CS will not be able to open them even with the latest ACR update for PS CS. But what she can do is download the latest DNG converter from adobe (http://www.adobe.com …oduct=39&platform=Windows (external link)) and convert your CR2 files to DNG files. She'll then be able to open the DNG files with PS CS and process them just like any other raw file.

I agree with PacAce, CS can't open .CR2 files (I tried this today)

Unfortunately CS doesn't support the latest Camera Raw updates from Adobe, although CS2 does.

As mentioned, you can convert to .DNG which are compatible with CS

Alternatively you can upgrade from CS to CS3, which I have done so my wallet is feeling much lighter today

Just as a clarification, PS CS can open some .CR2 file but not all of them. It can handle CR2 files from the 20D, 1DmkII and the 1DsmkII with the ACR 2.4 update.

Right on for the help! Yes, the .CR2 files are from my 5D, so it looks like she'll have to update for converting to .DNG then tweak to her liking. Thanks again for the links and explanation!
