Heaven & Hell
Megadeth

I'm pretty psyched about it! I'll be shooting alongside a couple of longtime friends too which is a huge plus.

Word has it it we'll have the usual 3 songs to shoot. I'm thinking of starting off with my 17-55mm then switching to my 70-200mm in between the 1st and 2nd song or 2nd and 3rd song, depending. At a time like this I wish I had two camera bodies. That will most certainly happen once I have more money in the bank :)

I'll post some shots sometime in the next week or two.

Cool. I'll be photographing both of them in the beginning of june at Sauna Open Air Metal Festival (external link) (I haven't yet received a confirmation of the accreditation, but I represent a metal magazine so that should be quite certain). Let me know what sort of deal they (Heaven and Hell) make you sign...

Good luck man, and have fun! I generally like to start with my long lens and then go wide (get the faces first and then get arty), but I'm pretty sure you know what you're doing. Fire away and keep that buffer full!:D

I don't think we'll have to sign anything but I'll let you know if we do!

good point, maybe I will start with the long lens first. I'll probably make the decision last minute anyways.

I haven't really taken advantage of the buffer of my camera yet but I have full intention of doing so tonight. In fact most of the time I forget that it can shoot that fast so I just settle for one shot, haha. Goal Tonight = Fill 2 x 4gb cards

8 gigs of photos in 3 songs?

maybe if the band is Acid Mothers Temple, where each song is about 22 minutes long.

or if you are using a video camera.

8GB in 3 songs??? You're nuts! I generally shoot 2-400 images (RAW) when under the three song rule - if you shoot 8GB you have a helluva lot of post processing to do! Much better to compose your shot, focus and shoot either single frames or short bursts in my experience.

Good luck with it though.

haha, okay filling up 8gb is quite the exagerration. Though as I shot my friends 5D on RAW I honestly think I could have shot 8GB easily if I kept the buffer full for the 3 megadeth songs and heaven and hell songs. I ended up taking about 400 shots total.
