I have a NN independent version installed. Also I am using a CS2/3. I heard so much good thing from NN to bring Noise down, but I never can excute it as it is said from others. I feel like it is less effective than CS2/3-noise program (medan, etc...). It doens't suppose to be that way, does it? The help with NN is so simple and helpless.

Can anyone tell me what your NN setting is to able to maxiumize the noise remove effect or how to intensively use NN to remove noise?

Thank you.

My settings are mostly different, I always profile my image (on the first page of the plugin, not sure about standalone). They even make profiles for your brand/model of digital camera - available on their site.

Love NN, don't know what I'd do without it! Maybe go back to film? Naaah.

I'm dumb and/or lazy so I auto-profile each image. There is no single miracle setting for all pics.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Noise Ninja has provision for taking screen shots at different ISO's with your particular camera. The image is provided on their disk and directions are in the help file. Take a couple hours to do it once and you will be able to automate much of your use of the program. Of course you can always profile the image and then tweak the result if you desire.

A good tip is to create a separate layer and apply NN. Go overboard.
Then use a layer mask to adjust to your liking. Alternatively you can adjust the opacity of the NN layer to get the effect you want.

My choice, too. Some help with layer masks:

Thanks a lot, guys. I only understand to shift the luminance bars and sharping bars... If so, why don't I just use CS2 instead...

I see on top menu, you can choose each color channel, I assume you can reduce noise from each individual channel... How can I do that? Maybe I need to learn how to set up layer and layer mask first...

Don't mean to ni-pic but there is a rather obvious typo in your sig...thought you may want to know

Cheers!

I dream to have Mark III with bunch of Ls. The dream will be filfulled sooner than I think...

The sample photo below is using NN on a very grainy photo taken in very low light at 1600 ISO. It does an amazing job in my opinion, just play around with the settings.

sig error noted. thanks. Wow, I can't tell image was shoot at iso1600. That's what NN seems to be.

Noticeable change in noise reduction is to reduce contrast under Luminance and of course two bars under sharpening.... Is that all I can do with NN?

Galaxy:
I get fine results with Noise Ninja meeting my expectations printing up to 8x10" from ISO 1600 Canon RAW files. All these NR tools work if you understand them to tweak the defaults. Here is my own NN Workflow, maybe this will help you: http://postit.rutgers.edu …5FCanonRAW%5FWorkflow.pdf (external link)
I doubt they have posted a 400D Profile, so you'll just have to make your own selection patches.
Hope this helps you get the results you want. Jack

Thanks PhotosGuy Frank.
I just did a martial arts tourny. Shot 440 at ISO 1600 and f/2.8. Had 110 keepers (25% keepers is very high for me). Ran them through a tweaked NN profile as I described in attachment. Print quality elcited ooohs and ahhhs from customers (many parents who had dSLRs). So, I know it works.

You are scaring me though - how does one accumulate 20,000 posts?

Jack

Thanks for your post. I too, have had poor results using NN. My images were always too soft after using NN. It looks like I need to study some and try again. I try very hard not to get much noise, but noise is inevitable.
Best wishes, Don

I bought NN when I first began my Photoshop processing. I would use it all the time. But then I stopped using it when I figured out that I was too anal about the noise. How bad is the noise you guys are getting? When do you get the noise? Are we talking ISO 1600 or ISO 200? I have yet to use NN in about a year. One thing that helped was I began to slightly overexpose my shots (around 1/3 of a stop) and consistantly check my histogram to make sure I was ETTR (exposing to the right).
